Two number of NSS units are functioning. The first NSS unit was inaugurated in our Polytechnic in the month of June 1997 with the DTE’s approval vide DTE’s Letter No.7570/Z/NSS/197 dated 26.05.1997. The Second Unit of NSS has been functioning from the academic year 2003 - 04 with the approval of DTE.

From the inception of NSS Unit I itself, we have been serving for the needy people of this area by doing various activities such as Blood Donation Camps, Cycle Rallies, Seminars by the experts on the aspects of Adolescent Health, Free Plantations, Observance of Festivals, Preparing Playgrounds, various Medical Camps, Awareness Programmes such as AIDS/HIV, Leprosy, Polio-Pulse Immunization Camps, Community Awareness, Functional Literacy, Rain Water Harvesting etc.

Various Blood Donation camps are conducted under the guidance of the doctors of Tirunelveli Medical College and doctors of District Head Quarters Government Hospitals, Tenkasi in various academic years are note worthy.

Our students have been involving social service under the guidance of our staff members for the benefit of people in and around Tenkasi as per the requests of, Govt. departments, Members of Parliament, M.L.A’s, local body authorities, etc then and there.

Personality development of the students through community service is carried out by our NSS programmes and activities. The awards and appreciation from various public and private sectors motivate our NSS units to go ahead in the path of our nation’s growth.

There are various camps that the NSS conducts and each of them broadly fall into one of these four categories:
